Hi,
Since the 1.0 released and update of the transifex.net to this version, every things has been broken. Please read this: * doc http://help.transifex.net/user-guide/one-dot-zero.html * blog http://blog.transifex.net/2010/11/one-dot-zero/ * tec http://help.transifex.net/technical/releases/1.0.html What you should know after reading, what I have understood: Now translations will not be pushed back to repository by transifex.net (security issue in fact). * Maintainers need to use transifex-client to sync translations * translators can use the webui to translate each pot file. * pot are automaticly updated So First I have tried to install transifex-client with buildout. It fails, reported , fixed in a branch , waiting for the merge: * http://trac.transifex.org/ticket/681 Now I will try to cleanup Plone project on transifex, and sync translations.

Hi,
Thank you JeanMichel for your effort, this is really appreciated. I will work with you to establish the new translation workflow. Hi, I was under the assumption that this was a personal project, not an endorsed project. Has Plone decided to move to Transifex for all it's L10n? Don't get me wrong, I think that's a good thing, I just didn't see any announcement saying "oh FYI, we are moving to Transifex for L10n" cheers L. > > Vincent > > > On Fri, Apr 29, 2011 at 12:10 PM, toutpt <[hidden email]> wrote: >> >> Well, I have done a new effort on trying to push Plone on transifex.net. >> >> You will find a report on my blog: >> http://toutpt.makina-corpus.org/plone-on-transifex-net >> >> This is also a request for comments, so please give me feed back about >> this >> (here is the best place). >> >> -----Jean-Michel François aka toutpt >> http://toutpt.wordpress.com >> http://twitter.com/toutpt >> -- >> View this message in context: >> http://plone-regional-forums.221720.n2.nabble.com/Transifex-status-tp5987981p6316356.html >> Sent from the Internationalization mailing list archive at Nabble.com. >> >> >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ >> WhatsUp Gold - Download Free Network Management Software >> The most intuitive, comprehensive, and cost-effective network >> management toolset available today. Hi,
we are not moving to transifex but we want to. The first step is to evaluate and see what should be done to get it works. I have done reports and discuss it with Vincent. It appears we can propose a new workflow, so we first need to do a survey to know which translation teams want to switch to transifex.net. I guess french team will be on transifex :)

I'm not a translator (and hence don't know the inner workings of a proper translation workflow), but I know that the Django mob happily moved to transifex recently. I'd back it. cheers L. > > I guess french team will be on transifex :) > > > ----- > Jean-Michel François aka toutpt > http://toutpt.wordpress.com > http://twitter.com/toutpt > > -- > View this message in context: http://plone-regional-forums.221720.n2.nabble.com/Transifex-status-tp5987981p6326595.html > Sent from the Internationalization mailing list archive at Nabble.com. > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > WhatsUp Gold - Download Free Network Management Software > The most intuitive, comprehensive, and cost-effective network > management toolset available today. In my understanding, we do not move to Transifex in a sense that we cannot translate Plone in the future the same way as we did before. Transifex is not a replacement for svn but a new tool to actually translate and to use svn without using it. ;-) Please correct me, if I am wrong! I appreciate the move to Transifex because there are translators around who do not use svn. So you have to send po-files around by email. But they should be able to translate Ploe via Transifex. juh ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WhatsUp Gold - Download Free Network Management Software The most intuitive, comprehensive, and cost-effective network management toolset available today. Not now juh but it was the case before transifex 1.0. Now transifex don't do auto commit. So the package maintainer need to pull translations from transifex to the source code with transifex-client.
The main issue we have is we can't merge translations, so a team need to be 100% on transifex or not at all (stay with svn).

Thanks for the clarification, Jean-Michel. Is this a svn issue which can be solved by using a DVCS? Does anyone know how Launchpad translations work? - -- Jan Ulrich Hasecke DZUG e.V. The issue doesn't comes from svn or dvcs. It comes from transifex design & workflow.
Transifex is storing all translations within it's own database and don't know anything about the repository. The update of messages is done by a simple download of the resource (pot file). The maintainer has to merge itself the messages. I don't know how launchpad manage translations.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hi, When we looked at it, launchpad used a bzr repository, we couldn't use plone svn directly. So in the end, it's the same complexity, we need to retrieve the po files from the tool and commit them in plone svn. I will do it manually or write a script that did it on a regular basis, every week for example.
