Hi,
I'm currently straightening out capitalization in the Plone UI while preparing the screenshots for our Plone manual. When doing this, several types of files are affected: - page templates and Python code - pot files - po files, by sync'ing the changes to pot files I wonder which of these files to change and check in, and which to leave to others to deal with. It feels strange to change "Site Map" to "Site map" in five places and get a check-in of dozens of files in the end. -- Thomas ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. I'll take care of regenerating / syncing the pot and po files. Thx for that work, I always wondered if these capitalizations are correct ;) Yours, Hanno ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. Hi Hanno
> Thx for that work, I always wondered if these capitalizations are > correct ;) I believe it's a matter of convention. Americans tend to use what they call "Title Case" [1] for headings, while Europeans use "Sentence case" [2]. I think the second makes more sense, since "Title Case" throws away information (it's impossible to distinguish using capitalisation if all the words are capitalised). Look at how the book titles are written in the two cases: [1] http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0743247698/104-5419289-7349542 [2] http://tinyurl.com/gujep -- Jean Jordaan http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media. I've now taken up work on the tlotze-capitalization branch of CMFPlone. > Thx for that work, I always wondered if these capitalizations are correct There's certainly more exciting work around, but it's the level of nitpicking I have to apply to the book anyway... As for correctness: I'll compile a short policy document for capitalization in the Plone UI as I go along. -- Thomas ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by xPML, a groundbreaking scripting language that extends applications into web and mobile media.
